The inaugural Samoan Sports Association Junior Scholarships were awarded in 2003. The aim of the Programme is to promote healthy lifestyles for Samoan youth in New Zealand through education.
Every year the success of our sportspeople heartens us, especially the emerging talent of our young people, which is becoming more prevalent and in more diverse sporting arenas.
The Samoan Sports Association believes it is important for our Samoan community to support a young person's strive for excellence, so with these scholarships we honour our young sportspeople and their achievements.
Every year residual funds from the Samoan Sports Awards are given out as Junior Scholarships. Any outstanding junior sportsperson can apply for a scholarship to help them to reach their sporting goals.
Applications are invited from young Samoans, either New Zealand citizens or with Permanent Residence status (please provide evidence).
Scholarships, worth $500-$1000, are awarded in each of the following six age-group categories:
Under-11 years
Under-13 years
Under-15 years

Recipients of a Junior Scholarship must fulfil the following condition:
Submit a written report to the Samoan Sports Association outlining how funds were used and helped to achieve your goals as presented in your application.
